Welshpool is a Market Town found in the picturesque Severn Valley and
is often considered the Gateway to Wales. It is perhaps the perfect
central point in which to explore the surrounding countryside.
On the outskirts of the town is Powys Castle whereby visitors
can enjoy the world famous garden with Italianate terraces, a fine collection
of arts and furniture and stunning array of treasures from India.
Additionally, the town also contains the start of the Llanfair Light
Railway whereby a 16 mile journey through the Mid-Wales countryside
can be experienced on a narrow gauge steam train with balcony seating.
If you will be requiring a place to stay on your visit then reservations
can be made at the Grade II listed Royal Oak Hotel that lies at
the heart of Welshpool. With a rating a 3 AA stars, the Royal Oak can
offer high quality food, drink and accommodation for any visitors to the
area with dining rooms boasting a wine menu of over 100 choices.
The town of Welshpool offers considerably more than can be described
